Why We Don’t Kill Wasps at Vegas Bees

Why Humane Wasp Removal Is the Only Option.
At Vegas Bees, we don’t harm wasps. We relocate them. Period.
That decision came from experience and a hard look at what actually works in the long run, and also, it's simply the right thing to do.
We hope we can change people into putting down the wasp spray for good, and teaching why our company will never pick it up.

The Truth About Wasps Most People Never Hear
Wasps have one of the worst reputations in the insect world, and it’s largely undeserved.
They are elite pest controllers. Wasps actively hunt the insects that destroy gardens, trees, and crops. Caterpillars, beetles, and agricultural pests are their primary targets.
Without wasps, pest populations would explode, and chemical pesticide use would skyrocket. What else is important is they also pollinate.
Many plant species rely on wasps entirely, and countless others benefit from their activity. Wasps can forage in cooler and wetter conditions than honey bees, making them critical early-season pollinators when other insects are inactive.
When people wipe out wasps, they’re not making their environment safer. They’re destabilizing it.
Not All Wasps Are Aggressive
Most of the wasps people encounter around homes are paper wasps. They build open comb nests under eaves and beams and are generally non-aggressive unless their nest is threatened.
Yellow jackets are different. They tend to nest in the ground and are far more defensive. Even so, aggression is usually a response to disturbance, not random behavior.
Wasps are intelligent. They can recognize faces and learn patterns. In our experience, when wasps are left alone and given space to forage, they are far more interested in doing their job than interacting with people.
How Vegas Bees Handles Wasp Situations
This is where we draw a clear line.
At Vegas Bees, we do not kill wasps. We do not spray toxins. We do not take shortcuts. We relocate them.
When a nest is in a high-traffic or unsafe area like a doorway, play structure, or business entrance, relocation is the solution. That means safely removing the nest and moving it to an appropriate environment where the wasps can continue doing what they do best without putting people at risk.
Relocation protects families, pets, and property without destroying beneficial insects or contaminating living spaces with chemicals.
What We Do Instead of Spraying Wasps
Early intervention matters. In spring, queens are building nests alone. Addressing nests early makes relocation easier and less disruptive for everyone involved.
Seasonal understanding matters.Wasp nests are annual. Colonies die off in winter, and only queens overwinter elsewhere. Knowing this allows for smarter, calmer decisions rather than panic-driven reactions.
Professional relocation matters.Improper removal can trigger defensive behavior and unnecessary stings. Relocation should be done with the right equipment, timing, and understanding of species behavior.
This is not a DIY situation when safety is involved. It’s a job for professionals who respect the insects and the people they’re protecting.

Fear Is Not a Wasp Management Strategy
If someone has a severe allergy, safety always comes first. That’s non-negotiable. But for the vast majority of people, the automatic destruction of wasps is driven by fear, not facts.
At Vegas Bees, our goal is balance. Healthy ecosystems are not sterile. They are diverse. Wasps are not pests to be eliminated. They are workers doing an essential job.
We don’t believe in poisoning the environment to solve a short-term problem. We believe in ethical solutions that protect people and preserve the ecosystem.
That’s why we relocate wasps. Every time.
