Betsy Lewis: Founder of Vegas Bees
Betsy Lewis
Betsy Lewis runs Vegas Bees and plays a critical role in colony care, rehabilitation, and long-term hive management.
A lifelong nature enthusiast, Betsy’s journey with bees began in her childhood in Maryland, where she assisted a neighbor with their hives.
Today, she combines that early passion with formal training under a master beekeeper to lead the company’s compassionate, no-kill approach to bee removal.
Beyond the hives, Betsy is a professional educator who brings her teaching background into every service call.
She views every "bee emergency" as an opportunity to advocate for pollinators, always taking the time to explain the hive's behavior to homeowners and turning fear into fascination.
Her commitment to transparency involves walking clients through the removal process and, when safe, showing them the comb and colony up close to foster a deeper respect for the insects.
While they share the physical work of removals, Betsy is the driving force behind the company’s mission to help the Las Vegas community coexist safely with nature, ensuring that ethical conservation remains at the heart of their business.

Pete Rizzo: Co-Founder of Vegas Bees

Pete Rizzo
Pete is a professional beekeeper and live bee removal specialist with years of hands-on experience removing colonies from walls, roofs, trees, and structures throughout Southern Nevada.
Trained by a master beekeeper, and completed hundreds of removals, ranging from simple swarms to complex structural cut-outs.
Together with Betsy, he ensures that Vegas Bees operates not just as a removal service but as a conservation effort.
Whether he is carefully cutting into a stucco wall or managing the apiary at their Joshua Tree preserve, Pete’s goal remains constant: to give every bee a second chance at life while keeping the community safe.
