Honey Balsamic Glazed Steak Tips with Portabella Basmati Rice & Roasted Veggies

Honey Balsamic Glazed Steak Tips

When we say honey goes with everything, we mean it—sweet, savory, and all the juicy moments in between.

This hearty, down-home dinner is one of our favorite ways to show off how beautifully raw local honey pairs with bold ingredients like balsamic vinegar and garlic.

Add in tender steak bites, a bed of fragrant mushroom rice, and a tray of caramelized roasted vegetables, and you’ve got a meal that makes us meat lovers drool for.

We made this one evening after a long bee removal job out in Henderson—tired, sticky, and hungry for something rich and comforting.

This recipe hit the spot and quickly became a go-to for special nights when we want something that tastes like it took hours but comes together pretty easily.

🍽️ What You’re Making:

  • Juicy steak tips glazed with a sticky honey-balsamic reduction

  • Basmati rice infused with sautéed portabella mushrooms and basil

  • A rainbow of roasted vegetables touched with olive oil, salt, and a hint of sweetness

Let’s get cooking!

🥩 Honey Balsamic Glazed Steak Tips

Ingredients:

  • 1½ lbs steak tips (sirloin, tri-tip, or whatever cut you love)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • Salt & pepper

For the Glaze:

  • ¼ cup raw local honey

  • ¼ cup balsamic vinegar

  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp soy sauce (optional)

  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions:

  1. Make the glaze first—combine honey, balsamic, Dijon, garlic, and soy sauce in a small saucepan. Let it simmer 5–7 minutes until it thickens slightly. Set aside.

  2. Season the steak tips with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the steak for about 3–4 minutes per side (depending on thickness).

  3. Add the glaze to the skillet and toss to coat the meat. Let it bubble for a minute so it clings to every bite. Finish with a pat of butter for richness.

🍄 Portabella Basmati Rice

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup basmati rice, rinsed

  • 2 cups water or broth

  • 1 large portabella mushroom cap, finely chopped

  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter

  • 1 tbsp fresh basil

  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, sauté chopped mushrooms in olive oil until golden and tender.

  2. Add rinsed rice and stir for a minute to toast slightly.

  3. Pour in water or broth, add basil and salt, then bring to a boil.

  4. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer 15 minutes. Let rest for 5 minutes before fluffing.

The mushroom adds that umami depth that holds its own alongside the steak.

🥕 Roasted Veggies on the Side

Use whatever you’ve got, but we love:

  • 1 zucchini

  • 1 red bell pepper

  • 1 carrot

  • 1 small red onion

Tossed with:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • Salt, pepper, garlic powder

  • Optional: drizzle of honey + balsamic after roasting

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.

  2. Chop vegetables, toss with olive oil and seasonings, and spread on a baking sheet.

  3. Roast for 20–25 minutes, flipping once, until caramelized and tender.

  4. Optional: finish with a touch of honey and balsamic for a glossy finish.

🐝 The Final Touch

To serve, scoop the basmati rice onto each plate, spoon over the steak tips with their luscious glaze, and fill in the sides with those golden-roasted veggies. Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh herbs—parsley or basil works great.
